Synopsis

This is an academic consultation reference book on Choreographic Composition. Understanding it from a transdisciplinary point of view necessarily requires a mature and open vision. Time, form, space, and rhythm are elements that exist in all disciplines of art. They can never stop being linked. The interrelation among these demands versatility, tolerance, and rigorousness. These qualities are present all through the text.

Author Biography

Adriana León Arana, University of Colima

Adriana León Arana has a Master’s Degree in Scenic Arts and a Degree in Arts (Contemporary Dance) from the Universidad Veracruzana. She is the director, Choreographer, and a dancer of Univerdanza, the dance company of Contemporary Dance of the University of Colima. She is also a full-time professor at the Universoty of Colima (Degree in Scenic Dance). She held a scholarship from the New England Foundation for the Arts to participate as an Interbnational Visiting Artist in the Bates Dance Festival in Maine, USA (2003 AND 2007). She was a grantee of FONCA 2006-2007 and a finalist of the 2008 Miguel Covarrubias Award. She participated in the project The Body Speaks directed by Dr. Christine Dakin and hosted by the University of Colima and Harvard University (2008-2013). The thesis for her Master’s Degree “Univerdanza, Contemporary Dance Company of the University of Colima. Processes of Organization, Methodology, and Creation” received the ART, Science and Light Award; Best Receptional Work 2012 from the Universidad Veracruzana and won the 2013 contest for publishing a postgraduate thesis from the University of Colima. In 2017, she presented her work with Univerdanza at the Harkness Dance Center in New York City, USA. Due to her distinguished career, in 2018, she received the award known as Mujer Colima 2018, awarded by the Honorable City Council of Colima.
