Peer Review process
In order to ensure the academic, scientific, and cultural quality of the books published under the editorial imprint of the University of Colima, the General Directorate of Publications has established the following peer review process, following a double-blind model.
1. Selection of Reviewers
Each manuscript will be evaluated by at least two external experts (not affiliated with the University of Colima) with recognized academic or professional experience in the subject area. In the case of books related to institutional history or internal university programs, reviewers may be affiliated with the University. The Editorial Committee will select reviewers based on criteria of impartiality, expertise, and absence of conflict of interest.
2. Double-Blind Review
The review process is double-blind, meaning that both authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other. This is intended to ensure an objective and unbiased evaluation based solely on the manuscript’s content.
3. Evaluation Criteria
Reviewers will base their evaluations on the following criteria:
- Originality and relevance of the topic
- Clarity of communication
- Structure
- Methodologies used
- Visual resources
- Quality of writing
- Citation practices
- Academic integrity
- Adherence to editorial guidelines
4. Review Outcome
Each review will conclude with one of the following recommendations:
- Approved for publication
- Approved for publication with revisions
- Not recommended for publication
If there is a discrepancy between the two evaluations, the Editorial Committee may request a third review to reach a final decision.
5. Confidentiality
The entire peer review process will be conducted under strict confidentiality. Neither the manuscript content nor the reviewers’ comments will be disclosed outside the editorial process.
