Synopsis

Dr. Carlos Eduardo Monroy Galindo is, undoubtedly, a very important person in the history of the University of Colima. A standout academic who knows the very bowels of the institution in an in-depth manner and a key witness of its main junctures during the last three decades. His words invite us to reflect on the diverse challenges that, at present, universities face and to pay attention to the relevance of accompaniment, especially at the time of modifying the practices or processes that had been previously established.

In a time dominated by social networks and where the most common practice is trying to “grab all the attention”, universities require, evermore, people like Dr. Monroy: conscious of the relevance of human, academic, and professional development, committed to continuous institutional improvement and who prefer the satisfaction of arduous but sometimes not very visible work, although well carried out, instead of one that is done merely to show off or pretend that something has been done, although of doubtful quality.

Dr. Monroy’s career captivates and serves as inspiration to others who, whether due to custom or to determination, we tend to adopt a low profile in the academic world or in any other professional field.
