Synopsis

In Little Veggies at Work, an everyday action is told, what it’s like to do a school homework assignment in a group.; the difference is that the characters are little vegetables instead of children. What makes this reading more fun is the wordplay and guessing why they sneeze at the end.

Author Biography

Mario Alberto León González, Universidad de Colima

Mario Alberto León González studied Medicine at the UNAM (Nartional Autonomous University of Mexico) and Gynecology and Obstetrics at Centro Médico Nacional de México (National Medical Center of Mexico). He resides in Colima since 1978 and became a member of the Taller Literario Tablero (Gameboard Literary Workshop) which is directed by maestro Efrén Rodríguez. With “La resortera inseparable (The Inseparable Slingshot)”, he obtained the second place in the Certamen Estatal Escribeme un Cuento (Write Me a Story State Contest), summoned in 2009 by the Secretaría de Cultura del Gobierno del Estado de Colima (Secretariat of Culture of the State Government of Colima)

La imagen de portada se presenta con un fondo de acuarela en tonos suaves y alegres que van del verde al azul, con manchas dispersas en tonos intensos de verde, amarillo y naranja, que dan un efecto de naturaleza vibrante y espontánea. La palabra “Verduritas” aparece en la parte superior, escrita con letras formadas por figuras de vegetales. Por ejemplo, la letra “V” está hecha de zanahorias con hojas, la “E” parece un chile, la “D” un jitomate o alguna verdura redonda, la “U” está compuesta por cebollines, la “R” por un pimiento morrón, y así sucesivamente. Cada letra tiene un color y forma diferente, lo que le da un tono lúdico e infantil. Debajo de esta palabra, en letras grandes, rectas y moradas, aparece el verbo “trabajando”, que equilibra el juego visual del título con un tono más serio y claro. Finalmente, el nombre del autor Mario Alberto León González está en la parte inferior del título, escrito en color rojo fuerte.
