Sinopsis

En México, la economía regional se ocupa de su distribución espacial y se centra en el análisis de sus regiones y estados o áreas metropolitanas. Es una de las economías de más rápido crecimiento en América Latina y modelo de integración financiera y comercial. Formidables desafíos de desarrollo y crecimiento económico le esperan al país en el próximo cuarto de siglo; además de que muestra profundos contrastes entre sus estados ricos y pobres, entre los centros urbanos en crecimiento y las áreas rurales indigentes, y entre la población mexicana con suficiente riqueza (considerada incluso entre las personas más ricas en el mundo y dueñas de empresas que puedan competir con las de los países industrializados) y aquella población para quienes los beneficios de la globalización aún no se han materializado.

En los próximos años, México enfrentará difíciles desafíos para sustentar su crecimiento económico. 

El presente libro aborda los efectos del capital humano, la investigación, el desarrollo en el crecimiento económico y la convergencia regional, asimismo analiza de cerca a las instituciones y el comercio.

Biografía del autor/a

ALEJANDRO DÍAZ-BAUTISTA, Colegio de la Frontera Norte

Doctor en Economía por la Universidad de California-Irvine (UCI). Imparte cursos y seminarios en los campos de organización industrial, macroeconomía, economía internacional, economía política, econometría, finanzas públicas, crecimiento económico, economía y economía territorial y regional. 

Ha publicado varios libros y artículos en periódicos. Su libro “The Determinants of Economic Growth: Convergence, Trade and Institutions” fue reconocido por el Foro de Editores de la Unión Europea, como parte del Catálogo de Publicaciones Clave. 

Ha sido reconocido varias veces por el Sistema Nacional de Investigadores como investigador distinguido. 

MAYRÉN POLANCO GAYTÁN, Universidad de Colima

Doctora en Política Científica y Tecnológica por la Universidad de Manchester en el Reino Unido. Es profesora-investigadora en la Universidad de Colima y miembro del Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (nivel 1).

Su área de investigación se centra en la economía de la innovación y el cambio tecnológico desde el punto de vista de la economía evolutiva, perteneciente a la corriente económica heterodoxa. 

Ha publicado en revistas nacionales e internacionales, así como en las revistas incorporadas al registro del Conacyt; también ha publicado libros y capítulos de libros como autora, coautora y coordinadora.

Es miembro evaluador del Consejo Nacional de Ciencias Económicas (CONACE), miembro activo de la Sociedad Internacional Schumpeter, y la primera mujer en presidir el Colegio de Economistas de Colima (2015-2017).
